Dining Tips

  • You order your food from whichever station you want and then pay at a central register, so everyone in your party can order from a different station and then pay together at one place.
  • You can eat your food in the adjacent cafeteria, which has a lot of tables. You can also get your food to go so that you can take it outside or to your room.
  • The cafeteria near Bayliner Diner has soda machines where you can refill your cups if you are participating in the Refillable Soda program at Cabana Bay.
  • You must pay by the ounce (60 cents per ounce) for everything you take off the salad bar, so you should avoid taking more than you are going to eat to save yourself money. You must also pay by the ounce (59 cents per ounce) for frozen yogurt and toppings.
  • If you have a Preferred or Premier Annual Park Pass, you can get a discount on the food you purchase at Bayliner Diner.

Review of Bayliner Diner

In most cases, the food that you get from Bayliner Diner is not as good as the food you can get from various restaurants in Universal's CityWalk, which is where we prefer eating. However, the food at Bayliner Diner is sometimes (not always) cheaper than some of the food that you can find in CityWalk.

The best part about eating at Bayliner Diner is the convenience factor. After a long day at the park, sometimes it's nice to just come back to the hotel and grab something quick (especially when the restaurants in CityWalk are busy after park close).

We have eaten at Bayliner Diner quite a few times. We haven't tried breakfast, but we have tried the following lunch/dinner items:

  • Braised Brisket Grilled Cheese Sandwich (Delicatessen): We have gotten this sandwich quite a few times. It was really tasty each time - definitely our favorite and the primary reason why we haven't tried more things at Bayliner Diner.
  • Tomato and Mozzarella Panini (Delicatessen): This sandwich was okay and tasted rather like a caprese salad in sandwich form. The tomatoes were fresh, the mozzarella wasn't the best quality (but it wasn't the worst either), and the balsamic glaze was okay.
  • Roast Turkey and Provolone Sandwich (Delicatessen): This sandwich was okay. The turkey and cheese could have been better quality, but the lettuce and tomato were fresh.
  • Bacon Cheeseburger (Sizzlin' Good): This burger patty is similar to what you might find on the burgers in the park. It is okay, but nothing special.
  • Cheeseburger (Sizzlin' Good): This is exactly the same as the Bacon Cheeseburger without the bacon.
  • Pepperoni Pizza (Delizioso): The Deliciozo pizza is not great. If you are a pizza connoisseur, you're probably going to consider this barely edible. If you are a kid or a fan of frozen pizza, you will be much more accepting of the crust, sauce, cheese, and pepperoni.
  • Spaghetti with Meatballs (Delizioso): The meatballs are a decent size, and there is a generous amount of pasta. The sauce isn't too bad (comparable to something like Ragu or Prego), but it is probably more of a kid favorite than an adult favorite.
  • Daily Changing Roast (A Taste of the World): The carving station roast at A Taste of the World changes daily. One day it might be beef, and on another day it might be ham or pork loin. In most cases, the daily changing roast is a safe bet. You get a good portion of meat and you get to pick from a long list of sides, making it easy to find something you'll like. However, this is one of the most expensive meals you can get at Bayliner Diner. If the price were a dollar or two lower, it would be easier to swallow (pun intended).

We have also gotten food from the salad bar and pre-packaged items (like salads) from the cooler. The salad bar is a pretty safe bet since you get to choose all of the ingredients. We tried the frozen yogurt from the self-serve machine one time - it wasn't very good; you are better off getting frozen yogurt from Menchies in CityWalk.
