Camp Jurassic in Islands of Adventure
Camp Jurassic can be found in the Jurassic Park area of Islands of Adventure.
Camp Jurassic Attraction Description
Camp Jurassic is a very large, very elaborate playground with a prehistoric theme. The area features special trails, numerous suspension bridges, and caves with special effects lighting and water features, like a geyser that can get you wet when you walk over top of it. There is also a nifty echo cavern that you can shout into.
Kids seem to like climbing the dinosaur capture nets and slipping down the themed slides. But the most popular areas are perhaps the two spots that contain dino-themed water cannons that can be used to spray other guests. Keep your eye out for these, because you could be sprayed when you walk by - even if you didn't agree to take part in the water fight!
To get a bird's-eye-view of Camp Jurassic, you can board the Pteranodon Flyers, a slow-moving aerial coaster that takes you over the playground. The queue for the Pteranodon Flyers ride is located in Camp Jurassic, so you will need to enter this playground to experience the ride.
Camp Jurassic History
Camp Jurassic opened in May of 1999 with the rest of the Islands of Adventure Park.
UO Fan Guide Attraction Tips
If you go in with your kids, be prepared to get physical. The rope bridges require balance, and there are a lot of stairs to climb. If your kids are small and on their own, don't be surprised if they get lost (or just distracted) in this huge space and have a hard time finding their way back to you.
