The Halloween Horror Nights Event

Halloween Horror Nights, also known as HHN, is an annual Halloween celebration that takes place on select nights in September, October, and November. This event is typically held inside the Universal Studios Florida theme park (not Islands of Adventure) in Orlando. The 2018 event is known as Halloween Horror Nights 28 because the event is in its 28th year. Halloween Horror Nights takes place in the evenings. It usually begins at 6:30 pm and lasts until 1:00 or 2:00 am depending on the night.

Rides Open During Halloween Horror Nights

Some of the rides in Universal Studios Florida are open at night during HHN hours. Wait times for these rides are typically minimal since most people are visiting HHN houses and scare zones. Universal Orlando has not yet established which rides will be open during Halloween Horror Nights 2017, but based on previous years, we think the following rides will be open:

How to Buy Halloween Horror Nights Tickets

You need a special ticket to gain admission to Halloween Horror Nights. This is true even if you have a daytime pass to the Universal Studios Florida theme park. There are two basic ways to buy tickets for Halloween Horror Nights: at the gate or in advance online. If you decide to purchase your tickets online, which we highly recommend, you can get them directly from Universal Orlando Resort on the official Halloween Horror Nights website

Halloween Horror Nights 2018 Ticket Options

The cost of an HHN ticket varies depending on the date you want to attend. For example, Saturdays are typically more expensive than other days. Discounts can also affect the cost. Annual passholders usually get a better deal than other guests, particularly during the first three weeks of HHN. Individuals who purchase multi-night tickets online in advance are also eligible for a discount. Prices have not yet been released for 2018 tickets. This page will be updated when prices are released. Let's take a closer look at each HHN ticket option so that you can choose the right ticket for your situation.

Tickets at the Gate

You can always buy tickets at a ticket counter at Universal Studios Florida on event nights. We do not recommend this option because you'll have to waste time waiting in line for tickets (when you could be having fun), and you may have to pay more at the gate than you would if you purchase tickets in advance online.

Flex Tickets

There are usually two types of flex tickets:

  • Sunday - Friday Flex Ticket: Admission to one Halloween Horror Nights Event night on any Sunday - Friday (event date must be valid for the ticket type).
  • Sunday - Saturday Flex Ticket: Admission to one Halloween Horror Nights Event night on any Sunday - Saturday (event date must be valid for the ticket type).

Coca-Cola Promotion Tickets

You can usually save up to $50 on select event nights with a UPC code found on cans of Coca-Cola products when you buy your tickets in advance online or by phone.

Frequent Fear Tickets

The best Halloween Horror Nights ticket deals are available for guests who purchase Frequent Fear tickets. These tickets get you multiple nights at HHN for a significantly reduced price. There are usually a few different types of Frequent Fear passes, including the Rush of Fear, Regular Frequent Fear, Frequent Fear Plus, and Ultimate Frequent Fear. Each one includes a specified number of nights, ranging from 10 nights to every night of HHN. In 2017, prices for these tickets ranged from $80.99 to $599.99 per person depending on the tier you chose and whether or not you were an annual passholder. Ticket prices have not been released for the 2018 HHN event,

One-Night Tickets for Seasonal and Annual Passholders

In addition to getting discounts on Frequent Fear tickets, Universal Orlando Resort seasonal and annual passholders can save money on single-night HHN tickets when they purchase tickets in advance online. The single-night tickets offer admission to one night of HHN. The following ticket options are available:

  • Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday Night Tickets
  • Sunday/Thursday Tickets
  • Friday Tickets
  • Saturday Tickets

Premier Passholders get a FREE Halloween Horror Nights ticket that can be redeemed at the Universal Studios Florida turnstiles and used on specific dates.

Halloween Horror Nights Vacation Packages

If you plan on staying at one of Universal's on-site hotels or a Universal Orlando Partner Hotel, you can purchase a Halloween Horror Nights Vacation Package that includes hotel accommodations; 3-Park, Park-to-Park tickets; and admission to Halloween Horror Nights (Sunday-Friday). Annual Passholder, Florida Resident, and Non-Florida Resident Packages are typically available when HHN tickets go on sale.
