Revenge of the Mummy Ride Description
Revenge of the Mummy is the flagship attraction of the New York area in Universal Studios Florida. The attraction is based on the Mummy movie franchise, and more specifically, the 1999 movie The Mummy starring Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz. Revenge of the Mummy is unique because it is an enclosed steel roller coaster, which means that the track is housed inside of a building; you cannot see the track or the ride vehicles until you enter the building and make it through the dark, labyrinth-like queue. The walls of the queue are covered in elaborate Egyptian hieroglyphics. If you're one of the rare people who know how to read and translate hieroglyphics, you'll notice that they actually spell out real warnings about the danger that lurks ahead.
You enter the building under the premise that you are touring The Mummy movie set, which has taken over the Museum of Antiquities to film a sequel. But you and the rest of the tour group quickly learn that things are not as they seem. Imhotep, the villain and head mummy in the first two films of the Mummy franchise, is trying to become immortal again by feeding on the souls of the movie's crew. A crew member warns you that you need to get out because the curse is real. He sounds terrified. But at this point, you're in the ride vehicle, so there is no escape! The crew member tells you that you must find the Medjai symbol if you hope to survive.
The coaster takes you through a series of caverns where you encounter warrior mummies and lots of scarab beetles intent on eating you alive. Imhotep pops up repeatedly to remind you that he really wants your soul, and you're in no position to argue about it.
You hit speeds of 45 miles per hour on the coaster and drop nearly 40 feet at one point. There are also a lot of sharp turns, stops, and drops that are hard to anticipate because it's so dark; you can't see where you're going.
The Revenge of the Mummy ride also incorporates a lot of special effects, from flames and fog to animatronics and special effects lighting. And just when you think the ride is going to end, it keeps going! When the vehicles do come to a stop, you exit into Sahara Traders, a gift shop that features apparel, jewelry, Egyptian statues, and Mummy-related merchandise.

UO Fan Guide Review of Revenge of the Mummy
Revenge of the Mummy is a must-do if you love roller coasters and dark rides. This attraction combines the best elements of both and is widely thought to be one of the most exciting thrill rides in Universal Studios Florida. There is nothing quite like hurtling through a dark cavern and not being sure where the track is going or what is going to happen next. Even the queue is very dark and exciting. You often hear guests screaming out in fear before they get on the ride.
