The Amazing Adventures of Spider-Man Ride Description
The Amazing Adventures of Spider-Man is a revolutionary ride experience that puts you in the streets of New York with Spider-Man. The adventure begins with a trip to the Daily Bugle, where you get to see the workplace of Peter Parker (a.k.a. Spider-Man). Guests often question why everything in this area - from the desks to the bagels on the desks - seems gray and colorless. The answer is because that's the way some backgrounds used to look in comic books; the inkers did not color everything in, especially unimportant things in the background (like desks and bagels).
While you are in the Daily Bugle, you hear that all of Spider-Man's biggest villains (Hobgoblin, Hydro-Man, Doctor Octopus, Electro, and Scream) have banded together to pull off a major heist: the theft of the Statue of Liberty. The Daily Bugle's editor J. Jonah Jameson decides to give you a job and sends you out to cover this major news story.
After climbing into a ride vehicle with up to 11 other guests, you set off through the streets of New York. You encounter all of the villains, but Spider-Man is always there to beat them back. At one point in the ride, you experience a simulated 400-foot free fall that leaves you rushing to the pavement. If only you knew someone who could spin a web-like net and save the day…
The Amazing Adventures of Spider-Man Ride History
Spider-Man made his first comic book appearance in 1962 and has gone on to be the inspiration for television shows, films, and even a Broadway show. As one of the most popular and commercially successful comic book characters, he also inspired Universal to create a flagship attraction around him. In early planning, the ride was known as The Amazing Spider-Man: A Web-Slinging 3-D Ride, but was eventually shortened to The Amazing Adventures of Spider-Man.
When The Amazing Adventures of Spider-Man debuted in Islands of Adventure in 1999, it was really something to marvel at (pun intended). It was the first ride to blend motion-based vehicles, 3D film, live action, special effects, and elaborate sets into a single ride. The unique ride vehicles were created just for this attraction and were considered a remarkable achievement.
In 2012, The Amazing Adventures of Spider-Man was given an extensive upgrade to maintain its state-of-the-art reputation. Technological improvements included new 4K high definition animation, new film details, and new set enhancements.
Express Passes are accepted at the entrance of The Amazing Adventures of Spider-Man.

UO Fan Guide Mini Review of The Amazing Adventures of Spider-Man
The Amazing Adventures of Spider-Man provides a fantastic ride experience. The queue is fun, the storyline is well-developed, and the ride action is essentially non-stop. The new HD animation is really well done, and the 4D effects immerse you in the action. You can actually feel the heat from the Hobgoblin's fiery pumpkins, and when Hydro-Man attacks, you get splashed with drops of water. It's hard not to re-ride Spider-Man immediately after you exit the attraction.
