The Cowfish is located next door to Red Oven Pizza Bakery and above Vivo Italian Kitchen in Universal CityWalk Orlando. Look for the restaurant's mascot (a yellow fish wearing a saddle) out front, and be sure to stop and take advantage of this fun photo op.

The Cowfish Restaurant Description

The Cowfish is a Sushi Burger Bar in Universal CityWalk Orlando. This colorful and lively restaurant is one of the newer additions and tends to draw a big crowd at dinner. The lobby is on the bottom floor of the restaurant, and seating is on the second and third levels. You can choose to sit inside or outside. The inside is full of interesting décor and fun art. The outside dining area offers good people watching. The uppermost level (the third level) provides the best views of CityWalk. You can also sit at the bar for good views of the large virtual fish tank.

Getting Discounts at The Cowfish

Although you can come across an occasional coupon or promotion for The Cowfish, discounts are most readily available for Universal annual pass holders. Premier Pass holders get a hefty 15 percent discount, while Preferred Pass holders save 10 percent.

Build a Fish

When you enter the lower level of The Cowfish (from the front of the building), you will see digital screens on the wall. You can use these screens to design your own fish. Then, when you get upstairs, you can look for the fish you created in the virtual aquarium. This is fun for kids and adults alike and a great way to pass the time if you are waiting for a table.

Eating at The Cowfish

The Cowfish menu is extensive. There are almost a dozen appetizers to choose from. Most appetizers cost somewhere between $6 and $14. Sushi bar selections include sashimi, nigiri, and classic makimono. Prices start at $5 and go up to almost $30 for things like the Chef's Deluxe 15 Piece Mix. You can also get fusion specialty rolls for $12 to $20 and sushi combos for $16 to $25.

The burger menu alone has almost 20 different choices, ranging from the Black Truffle Cheese Burger to the Jalapeno Popper Show-Stopper. The most entertaining burger is probably The Cowfish Has Officially Left The Building, a one-pound burger with peanut butter, fried bananas, and bacon. The average burger price is about $15. If you're feeling adventurous, you should look on the menu for Burgushi, a unique fusion of burgers and sushi that will set you back about $16. 

Children can order off The Cowfish kids menu, which includes mini burgers, sushi rolls, grilled cheese sandwiches, PB and J rolls, and other kid-friendly items. 

The Cowfish drink menu features a tantalizing selection of drinks from wine and imported beer to specialty cocktails like the Farmer's Daughter, Bees Knees, and Bloody Mary Had a Little Cow. The drink menu is rounded out with sake and spiked milkshakes. Some drinks (beers) can be had for under $7, while others (some sake for example) will cost you as much as $30.

Review of The Cowfish

We recommend taking time to dine at The Cowfish while visiting Universal Orlando Resort. To say that the restaurant is unique is an understatement. There aren't many places in the world where you can get something like Burgushi. It makes a good story for friends and family when you return home. 

If you like to drink, the cocktails alone are a good reason to visit. (The Cowfish has a six-page beverage menu.) If you're going for the food, we recommend getting The Cowfish's signature creation: sushi rolls with burger components. Other solid choices include one of the burgers, which are delicious, or a Cowfish Bento Box, which contains a mini-burger, sushi rolls, and an array of sides like Thai cucumbers, sweet potato fries, and edamame. If you like spicy food - REALLY spicy food - you can't go wrong with the Jalapeno Popper Show Stopper; this burger was HOT! Drinks can be on the expensive side, but most of the burgers and entrees are reasonably priced. 

We have seen (and heard) a few complaints about the service at The Cowfish since it opened, so we want to comment specifically on the service we received on our last three visits: It was superb. The servers were  knowledgeable and eager to answer questions about the menu. Our food came out quickly, and the servers stopped by several times to refill drinks and make sure we were enjoying our food.
