The Tales of Beedle the Bard Show Description

The Tales of Beedle the Bard is a live stage show featuring a story from The Tales of Beedle the Bard, a book of fairy tales written by J.K. Rowling. The story is acted out through puppets, which are controlled by a troupe of students from the Wizarding Academy of Dramatic Arts (W.A.D.A.). Universal Studios Florida classifies this show as a comedy show, but the only portion of the act that could be considered a comedy is the short pre-show that occurs prior to the telling of the story. The stories themselves are wonderfully charming, but they are not comedies.

Currently, only two of the five stories from The Tales of Beedle the Bard book are being performed in the show. The two stories are: "The Tales of the Three Brothers" and "The Fountain of Fair Fortune." Only one story is performed per show, so if you want to catch them both, you need to attend two different shows. Show times vary throughout the day; check the free Universal Orlando app or the electronic display of show times at the front of the park on the days you are in Universal Studio Florida to see what times the shows will be performed. The acts take place on an outdoor stage in Carkitt Market, an area within Diagon Alley.

The Tales of Beedle the Bard Show History

Beedle the Bard made his first appearance in the world of Harry Potter through a mention in the novel Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. "The Tales of the Three Brothers," one of the Bard's stories, was told in its entirety in the novel, and some of the Bard's other stories were mentioned by name.

J.K. Rowling eventually released a real book called Tales of Beedle the Bard, based on the fictional version of the book mentioned in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. The profits from Tales of Beedle the Bard (in the millions of dollars) were donated to charity.

The Tales of Beedle the Bard show opened with The Wizarding World of Harry Potter - Diagon Alley in Universal Studios Florida in July of 2014. The puppets used in the show were created by Emmy-award-winning designer Michael Curry.

UO Fan Guide Mini Review of The Tales Of Beedle The Bard

The Tales of Beedle the Bard, is a must-do experience, particularly for Harry Potter fans. The stories are beautifully written, and like all good fairy tales, have a moral truth hidden within. The troupe does a good job with the narration, and the puppets look really cool.
