Interview With Zombie Outbreak
Zombies first shuffled into popular culture in a 1932 film called White Zombie, much of which was shot on the Universal Studios lot. Since then, our decomposing, brain-eating friends have branched out into art, books, TV shows, music, games, and even charity events (where Zombie Walks raise awareness for things like global hunger). You can even find zombies on International Drive in the sunny state of Florida. These zombies are part of Zombie Outbreak, an experience that pits real people like you against a horde of zombies who are in desperate need of a snack. The staff of UO Fan Guide hasn't experienced Zombie Outbreak yet (though we are really looking forward to it), so we contacted the managers of the Zombie Outbreak research facility in Orlando to learn more. Here's what they had to say:
Can you start by telling us a little bit about the Zombie Outbreak experience?
Zombie Outbreak is a live-action simulation of the zombie apocalypse. You and your team are loaded up with realistic weapons and brought in to help clear the Zombie Outbreak research facility of the undead using infrared laser tag equipment. One shot takes down a zombie for 8-10 seconds. If a zombie gets too close it will count as a bite since their head bands are infrared emitters! It's the perfect way to get a good thrill and test your ability to survive in the apocalypse.
How many zombies will players encounter during the experience?
A horde of zombies has escaped and is free-roaming the facility. We have three levels of difficulty to play. Each level progressively gets more intense.
What types of weapons can players choose from?
Weapons are given at the Quartermaster's discretion depending on availability. We have two rifles available: the CQB rifle and the M4 rifle.
How do you score or lose points throughout the game?
The scoreboard calculates Score Points, Accuracy, Kills, and Bites. Score is based on kills and accuracy. Kills is the count of how many zombies you have shot. Bites is how many times you were bitten by a zombie.
Do you have any tips to help people achieve a higher score?
Don't run! Pay attention to the Staff Sergeant's instructions. Work as a team. Aim for the head!
What Is the best score you've seen?
100% accuracy. 32 Kills. 0 Bites.
Is the facility accessible for guests in wheelchairs or electronic conveyance vehicles?
Zombie Outbreak is wheelchair accessible!
What is the best way to purchase Zombie Outbreak tickets?
Reservations are not required. You can walk in and purchase tickets any time during operating hours. You can also purchase tickets through our website ZombieOutbreakOrlando.com.
Is it possible to book a private event (like a birthday party)?
